Oh my goodness...

  • Mood: pretty good, but tired
  • Weather: sunny and breezy, and pleasant temps
  • Gas Prices for My Car: this evening, I noticed they dropped a little more, to $2.45 per gallon

This is just a quick post.  Really.  Yesterday, I was making a grocery list, writing it in cursive, when all of the sudden Michael started reading it out loud to me.  I had not taught him anything about cursive handwriting, nor how to read it.  All the greeting cards we've given him have been dutifully printed... and now this.  How?!  The little bugger is already learning to write cursive script for Hebrew (I never learned how to print the block style... why should I fuss around with teaching him that?).  Now what are we going to do when we want to write something we want to keep  quiet from Michael?  He spells pretty well now too, so I've taken to spelling secrets at brake-neck speed, and hoping the other adult I'm communicating with can keep up.  Still, sometimes I find myself thinking creatively to find a synonym for the first common word that has popped into my head, and then spell that instead.  Just in case...

Today, at the end of our school day, Michael and I played "store" for almost an hour. This is a great way to practice the skills he's learned about money. (Just wish we had REAL money to play with, instead of play money. Oh well!) Towards the end, I told him that sometimes money is tight, and it's good to get used to using a calculator as you shop. He loves to play with my calculator, so as he selected each tiny toy plastic can of peas or corn and dropped it in his toy shopping cart, he carefully punched in the purchase price so he wouldn't go over his fictitious spending limit of $10. When he was sure he had it all correct, he brought the cart over to me and we added it up together. Except for a couple dollars overage, he did very well. Oh, and he kept insisting that I use the functioning microphone on the toy cash register to call for "Clean up in aisle 5!" or the like. He's too funny.
3 Paid their dues.

:o Oh boy! Having smart kids is tough! I hear it only gets worse from here on in... I have taken to keeping Hunter's Christmas Presents in bags in my trunk, 'cause I'm afraid he'll snoop around and actually find them. How are we going to get through :-? ?

YIKES ! ! !

Kids are wonderful aren't they? My oldest is just starting to play pretend and we're trying to keep up with toys that he can pretend with. They never cease to amaze.
